If you’ve ever dealt with our lettings team, chances are you’ve already experienced Alison’s calm, supportive approach.
As Lettings Manager, Alison plays a key role in guiding landlords and tenants through what can often be a stressful process. With legislation constantly evolving and the rental market changing year by year, her experience and steady approach are invaluable.
But there’s far more to Alison than her role at Rush Witt & Wilson.
Outside of work, she enjoys dog walking, city breaks, pub quizzes and even the occasional escape room challenge. Her idea of a perfect day off is simple and relaxed, a sunny dog walk, catching up on the news and finishing with a pub lunch.
When asked what she finds most rewarding about her role, her answer says a lot about her character. For Alison, it’s about helping people through some of their most stressful and difficult times. Whether that’s supporting a landlord through changing legislation or helping tenants navigate a move, she understands that property is never just about bricks and mortar. It is about people.
Over the years, there have been many memorable moments, but she is particularly grateful for landlords who have trusted her for years and continue to do so. Long term relationships and repeat clients are something she values greatly.
Alison is also keen to challenge a common misconception about estate agency, particularly in lettings. There is sometimes a belief that agents are only on the landlord’s side. In reality, her role is to remain fair and balanced, providing a professional service to both landlords and tenants. Of course, sometimes that means delivering news that not everyone wants to hear, but honesty and transparency are always at the heart of what she does.
If Alison could try a completely different career for a day, she would choose to be a chocolate taster at a chocolate factory, a choice we can all understand.
She would also love the opportunity to have dinner with the late Queen. Her curiosity about life inside royal residences and the history witnessed there would make for fascinating conversation.
Perhaps one of the most surprising things about Alison is that she has travelled around New Zealand and even completed a tandem skydive in her early twenties. After jumping out of a plane, she says everything else feels easy.
When asked what she would change about the estate agency industry, Alison speaks passionately about the assumptions sometimes made about agents. In her view, building strong relationships and providing a genuinely good service is what really matters. Life is too short not to be helpful, honest and positive in what you do.
At Rush Witt & Wilson, we are proud to have Alison leading our lettings team, combining professionalism, fairness and a genuine care for the people she works with every day.
