Moving House in Tier 3

Can I still move home is we move into Tier 3?

This year has been full of uncertainty for buyers and sellers, but the property market is still open. One question we have been asked by our clients is this… Will I still be able to move house if we go into Tier 3?

The answer is yes, although there will be measures in place to prevent the spread of Coronavirus you can still buy or sell a property.

Are property viewings still allowed in a Tier 3 Area?

You will still be able to view a property in Tier 3 areas and we have found that lockdown conditions have encouraged people to look for a new property if they are unhappy with their current home. Virtual viewings and property videos have been a great way for potential buyers to have a look around new properties before they visit in person.

Strict Coronavirus safety measures should be in place for all viewings which should include the following:

  • Wear a facemask for all property viewings
  • Regularly wash hands 20 seconds or more
  • Open all doors to help ventilate the property
  • Open all doors to minimise contact
  • Only 2 Buyers from the same household can view at one time

If you want to know more about what you can expect from a socially distanced property viewing, read this article from Zoopla.

Of course, any viewings may be postponed or cancelled if someone in the property is showing symptoms of Coronavirus or is self-isolating. The estate agent and seller may also choose to wait outside the property during the viewing.

Are Estate Agents open in Tier 3 areas?

Although people are being encouraged to work from home, Estate Agents (including Rush, Witt & Wilson) will remain open even if we enter Tier 3. Luckily alot of the work can be managed remotely, but branches will remain open and available to visit by appointment.
